How do I check the transmission flui level, filter in a 2001 VWGolf>?
My 2001 Golf displays the engine malfunction light. The auto shop diagnosed PO740 - transmission issues (torque convertor clutch). Before spending money I would like to know if I can access the transm. fluid and check it for level, dirt, etc myself
Changing oil and filter is not going to fix this fault. Its good enough for forward and reverse. These boxes suffer with worn torque converter clutch apply valve bores. See www.sonnax.com for modified valve. Special tools required to install. Check out www.fedauto.co.uk for specialist in your area.
