Washing machine reassembly?

I disassembled my washing machine and replaced the clutch. The problem was clothes would not spin water completely. Although it was very simple, on reassembly all parts went on quite easily. The problem is that after reassembly, there was one part that was left out. I did not take it off but when I disassembled the unit the part fell out from the bottom. I spent an hour trying to find where the part came from to no avail. The part is a pin about .219 in diameter with a .312 diameter head at .093 thick, about 2" long from head to end. The end is pointed with a hole about .093 hole looks like maybe a hair pin type hole. This pin is also has a flat on the shank from the bottom of the head to the pointed end. I have no clue where this pin goes into. The washer is working well. All functions seems to be okay. I don't know if it is something that needs to be in the unit or not but it has me pulling my hair. Any information as to what it does or if it's even needed would be greatly appreciated. I'm not bald yet but getting close to it.
