how can i stop my toro walk behind mower from blowing out black smoke ?

I've changed the oil and filter. My mower is a 15 hp Kawaski 44" walk behind. It is putting out noticeably black smoke and not idling right. what can I do ?

Black smoke would suggest it is running too rich, clean/change the air filter, could be carb needle leaking and flooding.
