Cd play in 2002 pontiac sunfire does not work?

My daughter's cd player in her car will not work. It will not load or play cds. It seems like it has somthing keeping the cd to load. It will also not spin. How do I get to the insides of this radio cd player. If I disconnect this radio cd player from the radio wire harness will it cause the radio lock up and not work at all. The radio and the clock work fine it is just the cd play that is broken. I do not want to mess up the lock code if it has one in it. At least she has a working radio now. HELP
