LG Trom Front Loading Washer-water pump noise?

I have a front loading LG Tromm and when it fills with water it makes the most awful screeching noise, like fingers on a chalkboard. It also makes a loud clunking/banging sound when it is in the rinse cycle and the water is pumping in, almost sounds like pipes banging. We have adjusted the pressure of the taps, both hot and cold but nothing is helping. Is there something we are missing? Aside from when the water is on the machine is great, quiet and a pleasure to use!
