husqvarna chainsaw 142, wont tickover?

142 has been a poor starter, I changed petrol and oil 2 tmix, and set spark plug gap to 20 thou.
Got it to start but had to keep blipping throttle to keep it running.
Being smart I thought I could solve this by leaving choke half open - few minutes later I had melted chain brake.
Then removed chain and bar & restarted 142, still wont tickover, tried screwing in the throttle stop, this helps, but will be no good when bar and chain on, cos chain will be engaged all the time.

Can you help, what about l and h screws?

Did you ever get your chainsaw running? My Husky 142 has the same problem. I assume it's a clogged jet as the problem gets better after running some carb cleaner through in the fuel.

I had opposite problem, chainshaw ran fast all the time, very dangerous! needless to say the clutch spring has broken through using the chain brake. Where can I get a new spring from? Searched on line but no joy.

The spring is available as a spare part, dont let them sting you for a complete clutch, the cause for a stretched clutch springs is heat due to running the machine with the chainbrake on.

thanks husqvarna man - took it to a shop; they adjusted it abit but still stalled. They say that the spring on the clutch is the fault, they will replace this next week. Thanks anyway

Richening up the mixture is well worth a go, only adjust the L screw, this will richen the bottom end running, unscrew approx 1/2 turn and try again, any more than one whole turn you are just compensating for some other fault in the machine.
