2003 vauxhall vectra 2.2 16v petrol?

how do i change a leaking front crankshaft seal? am i correct in saying the pulley has NO key to preserve the valve timing?is it a common fault with this engine?what special tools do i need?Are oil seal conditioners an easier &cheaper fix?
