sorry adam, dont get much chance to get online. The relay is making one single click when i press the electric start and nothing else is happening. The green and red wires are firmly in place. The battery is fine, tested with multimeter and on another bike and it started up. What would you sugest doing now? Is there a way to test if the starter relay is knackered or is it likly to be something else? Thanks again for the help.

yes true, thats why i said it it a series of clicks or a single click,a faulty battery will either give a series of clicks if its very low as it cannot kep the contact breaker connected inside the relay as the electro magnet isnt powerful enough to hold the points together due to the low amps or one click and then you will hear the s motor turn very slowly, but he hasnt replied which isnt unheard of on this forum unfortunately.

Sounds like it could be a bad battery to me.Just because you charged a battery doesn`t mean it`s good.
I had the same problem with my sv650 and the battery had a bad cell.I would suggest disconnecting the bike battery and connecting someones car battery and seeing if it turns over.If it does then you know what it is.If it clicks still then it`s the relay thats gone or a bad connection on an earth wire.

Hi gary, now does the relay click once or is it a series of clicks?and there is and earth wire that goes to the transmission cover on the top front bolt from the battery is that on it and also a green thick wire goes to one of the bolts on the starter motor itself is that ok and tight?the starter motor is at the front of the engine underneath near the stand.also the relay is near the battery at the front of it to the right slightly are both of the larger female spade connectors on it and tight fitting?

sorry bb its a speedfight 2. and for the first answer the bike doesnt have any gears so i cant bump it off. but i will try your other advice tomoz. cheers. at first it sounded like the starter motor was spinning but then that stopped and the starter relay started clicking which led me to think it was a dead battery, charged it and tested it on another bike and it started up so it cant be the battery. any other sugestions are welcome. thanks in advance :D

The kick start broke on my bike in 1964 (we didn't have electric starters in those days) - I had to turn the ign on - set it in gear - pull in the clutch - run along with it and leap on. Always worked - never fell off doing it.

Your battery then is probably fine if you've charged it - the starter relay appears to be working - it clicks at least which is a good sign.

You may have a broken starter motor - it would be a good idea to rig up a lamp on a wire and see if any voltage is being switched by the starter relay i.e. is power being offered to the starter motor?

If no then suspect the relay - otherwise the starter.

Good luck...
