trinitron shower not turning on?

almost certainly a duff pull cord switch. The fainter neon light is caused by voltage drop in the switch when you try and power up the shower.
Likely the switch contacts are burnt out.
Make sure that the wiring on the pull cord switch hasn't overheated, if so the switch will need rewiring

check the connections in the shower on the connector block.
if ok check the pull cord connections
