Why would they need an appliance engineer? It's a 10 minute job - remove rear panel and swap out the stats!

2 sensors behind the rear cover about the size of 20p piece cost £13 to replace part number 1701583 one of them will have a grenn dot on the reverse. Simply remove old replace with new. Regards.

more than likely thermal cutouts have open circuited,,suggest you get qualified appliance engineer, as it is a bit more than a diy job.
