i have changed the barrel on transit van?

i changed the barrel on my transit 1997 van it turns ignition lights on but it will not start i placed imobiliser on unit on neck of barrel and if i remove barrel and insert skrew driver and turn it starts key only turning lights on if i take switch of and try skrew driver in it starts if any one can help ring me on 07783919029
