Mend Water Upstairs Turn

tap?

the cold water tap is running in the upstairs bathroom what do we turn off so as to fix a new washer we have central heating with a cold water tank in the loft

The bathroom cold tap will probably be fed from the larger of the two tanks in your loft - towards the bottom of it will be the outflow pipe and it should ideally have a stop tap on it - this is the one to turn off.
