Hot water tap on bath won't turn on/off - can only do using a screw driver (have removed the plastic knob). How do I go about changing the 'barrel'(?)?. Is not a single tap, is on a mixer unit. Sorry don't know anything more about the type of tap, is quite old.

ou have the answer in your question. You need to change the 'barrel' for a new one. First turn off the water supply, then remove the existing barrel with a wrench and head to a plumbers shop. Purchase a new barrel and replace it.
