Mend Connect Red Light

i cannot connect to make or receive calls?

the phone seems in order, all lights on, red light comes on but no dialling tone and if you call in with mobile you hear one ring then silence. Seems a blip as it worked for two hours yesterday as normal then reverted.

Borrow an ordinary land line phone and plug that in and try it,if it works it means the line is ok but your phone is at fault,if so take the batteries out, unplug it from the mains(I assume it is cordless)and leave it for 30mins or so to reset,put it back together then try.Good luck.
