how can i fix my shower pump?

my power shower pump turns on for a few seconds then off,this happens a couple of times a day,so i have to turn it off when not in use,do you no of a reason for this.
i have had the pump for five years.

Sounds like the valve is leaking slightly. They normally work by detecting a pressure drop i.e turn it on, the pressure drops and the pump kicks in. Probarbly not alot you can do with it other than replace the unit if it gets worse or just turn off as you have been doing.
