as far as i am aware the auto choke is basically a coil arrangement inside and it lifts the small choke plunger upwards until is warmed up then it lets if drop down into the choke jet and blocks the hole up,its true it gets warm if its working as you cant see if its actaully lifting out of the hole its the best way of telling i would aslo remove any packing from arounf the choke as soemtimes they have a tremal jacket around them and this causes the choke to turn off too early.yes dellorto are a horrrible carb to be honest i prefer mikuni or keihin carbs they are the best.the dellorto carbs also suffer from the tickover screw eating into the carb slide and it makes it impossible to get it to tickover eventually as it wears it away,i have modified them before but its tricky.

thanks for that the 4 out is really strange most bikes ive had no more than 1-1/2 out .
last question please
how do i know the choke is ON or more important OFF ie what method is needed to test the choke device.
only read on hear the device case should get warm .why

ok a delorto carb is 4 turns out which is alot but thats how they are,also a dellorto carb has an odd mixture screw as most mixture screws on other carb makes adjust the slow running mixture to be richer by turning the screw inwards but a dellorto gets weaker if yiou screw it inwards.so screw the mixture screw all the way in and then undo it 4 full 360 degree turns out.ok
