Mend Mercedes-Benz 280CE Gear Problem Hours

gear problem?

I have a 1985 280ce coupe and Occasionlly after being parked for a period of time,one or two hours will start ok.but will not change out of low gear.
when left for a while will drive ok again.ths has only started this summer.
