my citroen xsara brake stop warning light keeps flashing and beeping what c?

I wish I knew! My stop light on the dash comes on too. The temperature gauge shows normal then suddenly drops to zero and the stop comes on. I turn up the heat and put on the blowers and it returns to normal and the light goes out!?!?!? Any idea whats up, anyone!

brake fluid may be low, poss due to brake pad/shoe wear or may be a leak,
