front door ten second alarm will not shut off?

Our Scantronic 9450 alarm has developed a fault whereby it goes off internally for about ten seconds every time we open the front door. We have disconneted the battery. No help... so put it back on again ( battery about 13 years old!). Can anybody advise how to stop this madness!!! No other lights showing except green power one.

So Dave, your alarm activates internally for 10 seconds and then stops on its own. This is a out right guess, some how you have managed to put the chime function on your panel. Just turn the option off,
As for your battery, alarm batteries are designed to last between 3-5 years only, dont tell me its fine, because it wont be.
