NH 7740 loses throttle suddenly then ok for a while?

There is a water separator it looks like a small filter on the R/H side of the engine further forward than the fuel filter, you will see an on/off tap on the pipework to it and there is a 90 degree fitting connects it to the filter head, take this fitting off and check for a blockage inside it as this is the most likely place for a blockage to be found.

I had same problem with my 7740.I changed the hand primer over the fuel filter and that fixed it.It was sucking air.
