The ovelocker (empisal Companion 7D) do not work?

The machine does not want to make stitches only the thread on the other side coming out. I rewire the machine several times and cannot seem what the problem is. The instructions in the manual are not clear and there is a difference between what you see in the book and what the machine actually look like. Is there a possibility that something else might be the problem?
