Mend Vauxhall Vectra Power Time Loss

I have a power problem!?

I have a 2litre 16v vectra, and the alternator light is on all the time! major power loss resulting in the car jumping and spluttering when excelerating hard.(as if the ht lead is damaged etc) Battery is charging as normal! I looked at the leads quickly but didnt see any splits etc
any suggestions?
