DIMPLEX OFC2009TI OIL FILLED RADIATOR?

THE NEON LIGHT ON MY RADIATOR COMES ON, BUT UNFORTUNATLEY THE RADIATOR DOES NOT HEAT UP. I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SWITCH MY HEATER NO AND IT HEATS UP, NOTHING TO COMPLICATED SO WITHOUT USING THE TIMER JUST ON MANUAL, VERY FRUSTRATING AS I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND I AM RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP.

"My Control unit is faulty - it all appeared to work - click test and all but the relays inside the control unit did not function properly) so I just bypassed it by taking the red lead from the back of the unit (where there are three leads - Red Blue Brown)
... and pulling the brown lead off the thermostat and taking the red lead straight up to the thermostat. The Dimplex OFC2009Ti now works and is switched on/off at the wall socket.
Hope this all helps ..."

Yes it did help, thank you. I just connected the Red lead to the Brown lead which perhaps is easier and has the same result.

I have the same problem, In the end i forced the R button in and it jammed inside, so now it is always set to manual. Its not perfect but at least it now works, I too was given it without instructions.

Yesterday I set my heater to manual.( Displayed at the bottom of the screen)The orange light was lit at the very top of the heater and the little red light was lit to the left of the display screen. Everything worked O.K. Today I switched the heater on and the orange light appeared at the top of the heater but the red light and the display did not light up so nothing works. Any suggestions please?

Have managed to get the clicks on the thermostat going by following the above instructions. Still not heating up the lights come on when thermostat clicks.

If the Control On light is red and the Mode set to Manual On then there may be a problem with the thermostat control (the top left one) - turn the control from minimum to maximum SLOWLY and listen for a 'click' at some point... and then slowly turn it back and forth at that point ...
The 'click' is a pair of contacts connecting / disconnecting. If you do not hear a click (usually right at the beginning when the heater has ben off for some time) then the problem is in the thermostat mechanism.
If the main control displays Manual On, has red light on and there is a 'click' - then the points maybe dirty.
Unplug from the mains (NOT just switched off) - remove the feet/castors from the control side (usually a wing nut) and the top screw (there is an annoying plastic cap over this screw just underneath where a hand hold is located, which needs to removed with a small pointed tool - eg. v.small flat blade screwdriver or similar).
The whole cover comes off but there quite a few wires which WILL short out if you have the heater plugged in! Don't do it or plug back in while the cover is off...
The thermostat arrangement is up behind the knob.
If you wanted to remove the thermostat (quite a complicated arrangement of 2/3 spring blades and pinky red insulating pads) then pull the knob off and remove the 2 screws.
Move the spring contacts a little by hand - and turn the shaft fr5om minimum to maximum again - you should here a 'click' most probably at the beginning in this case. Sometimes the small red pin at the top end of the thermostat may jump out of the v.small locating hole ...
If this is the case then the heater may have been stored in a very cold place (?) otherwise just pop it back in and reassemble and see if it all works - remember it will take a few minutes to start to warm up - and it is working if you hear some [other] small
clicks within the actual radiator fins ...

For Allan .. not a lot of help directing to the WRONG manual (and I am SHOUTING) ...

To anyone else with this problem Dimplex OFC2009Ti - try pressing the Reset (R) button on the right of the clock with a ballpoint (or similar) and holding down for a few seconds until the clock comes on. For now, select Manual On ... and see if heater warms up (select Max Thermo and position 3 on controls).
If this has worked ... leave heater on (either Off or whatever heat level you want) for a good time to charge battery up (suggest at least 8 hours).
After this, you should be able to PROGRAM or continue with Manual mode (PS be carefiul not to have selected Manual OFF ... ie. keep jogging Mode button until Display shows Manual On (V.small letters to extreme lower left)
Hope this fixes!

As one would expect, the company manual has no information about faulty switches. I have the same issue as Shirley. The on-off toggle switch stops working after some time used at full heat, as the contacts melt. Poor quality components is the problem.

A quick Google search leads one to the Dimplex website and the manual.

Please, when posting in forums, don't use all capitals. It is considered extremely rude and akin to shouting in "real life"
