If the Control On light is red and the Mode set to Manual On then there may be a problem with the thermostat control (the top left one) - turn the control from minimum to maximum SLOWLY and listen for a 'click' at some point... and then slowly turn it back and forth at that point ...
The 'click' is a pair of contacts connecting / disconnecting. If you do not hear a click (usually right at the beginning when the heater has ben off for some time) then the problem is in the thermostat mechanism.
If the main control displays Manual On, has red light on and there is a 'click' - then the points maybe dirty.
Unplug from the mains (NOT just switched off) - remove the feet/castors from the control side (usually a wing nut) and the top screw (there is an annoying plastic cap over this screw just underneath where a hand hold is located, which needs to removed with a small pointed tool - eg. v.small flat blade screwdriver or similar).
The whole cover comes off but there quite a few wires which WILL short out if you have the heater plugged in! Don't do it or plug back in while the cover is off...
The thermostat arrangement is up behind the knob.
If you wanted to remove the thermostat (quite a complicated arrangement of 2/3 spring blades and pinky red insulating pads) then pull the knob off and remove the 2 screws.
Move the spring contacts a little by hand - and turn the shaft fr5om minimum to maximum again - you should here a 'click' most probably at the beginning in this case. Sometimes the small red pin at the top end of the thermostat may jump out of the v.small locating hole ...
If this is the case then the heater may have been stored in a very cold place (?) otherwise just pop it back in and reassemble and see if it all works - remember it will take a few minutes to start to warm up - and it is working if you hear some [other] small
clicks within the actual radiator fins ...
My Control unit is faulty - it all appeared to work - click test and all but the relays inside the control unit did not function properly) so I just bypassed it by taking the red lead from the back of the unit (where there are three leads - Red Blue Brown)
... and pulling the brown lead off the thermostat and taking the red lead straight up to the thermostat. The Dimplex OFC2009Ti now works and is switched on/off at the wall socket.
Hope this all helps ...
