Mend Hotpoint LARDER 8129 Change Housing Screws

replacement of thermostat?

I have a HOTPOINT "LARDER 8129" I need to change the Thermostat. I have removed the 3 No; housing retaining screws (Also Knob) but the housing will not come away from the case. do I have to remove the stee plate mounted on the back wall ?
