Servis 1200a starts intermittently?

Hallo
I have a Servis 1200 A Washing Machine which has been playing up for a few months. When I set the programme dial the programme used to click and start immediately. Now it may start or may wait for a while - a while being minutes or hours. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?
