Mend Ford Escort 2001 Switch Replace

where is the neutral safety switch on a Ford Escort 2001?

Where is the neutral safety switch on a 2001 Ford Escort and how do I replace it? I am able to bypass the automatic shift lock via the small hole on the central counsel but I cannot extract the key from the ignition. Will replacing the neutral safety switch solve these problems?
