Mend Nissan Micra Problem Gear 2002

what is causing this?

having problem getting from 2nd to 3rd gear in my 2002 nissan micra tempest,no schrunching of gears,seems like a selector linkage alignment problem.refuses to go in at 3 or 4 attempts and then slips in as tho' theres never been a problem.
