it picks up when i use the attachment on it but when i just try to hoover up normally it seems to blow out and not pick up anything, my husband thinks something is missing off it because the air comes out of the bottom of the cylinder, he wonders if i have knocked something off it when i have emptied it, can anyone advise if it might be missing a seal?
The front roller brushes when switched on, only operate when the machine is near vertical. I'm aware that the brushes are designed to switch off automatically when the main body clicks to vertical but I'm sure when we purchased it some time ago that the brushes operated at all angles except when vertical.

It might be a blockage in the pipe or the machine is full or the filter is dirty. Any of the above will cause the safety valve, that prevents overheating, to open and you will loose suction
