Here's another site, which gives better details on checking the voltage:

Problems with the Laguna's heated rear windscreen:
For some reason a common fault on Lagunas.

All the above problems with the heated rear windscreens are mostly caused by one thing: If you check behind the interior, possibly peeling back the carpet in the boot, on your left hand side, just below the speaker, you will find a white connector block (approx’ 2.5” x 1.5”). This needs prising apart and the terminals cleaning, in 90% of cases this seems to cure the problem. The connector can also be by-passed (selecting the two thickest wires, normally white & green wire and a black & green one).

Best to use a Voltameter first though before working with the wiring - in case there's no power at all even reaching this point, hence a bad earth or live somewhere.

The cabling may possibly need replacing, maybe even between the relay and the connection-box in the boot. Apparantley another goes from the fuse box into a white junction box behind the plastic below the passenger door, although I've never fully checked this.

This cable then goes to a junction box in the boot. It's best to turn the switch on and test at both these points in case the problem is along there.

I'm actually still trying to sort my own. I've changed the relay and by-passed the connector in the boot area, but still no joy. I believe it's a bad earth problem or a break in the wire between the relay and the connector as stated above. This will be by next job in the coming days.

For more info' check the RenaultForums site (via Google) which has a few topics on this, although you may have to register for free with this good site!

You'll finf the relay (lilac coloured) behind a separate panel under the fuse-box (under the steering wheel).

If you get on your knees beside the drivers door and look right under the fuse-box you'll see a square black panel which can easily be opened with the thumb lever on the left of it. The correct relay is the one on the far right side closest to you and the driver's door.

To be sure, hold the relay while you press the heater-switch and you should feel it clicking. Note: A clicking relay doesn't mean to say that it's working 100%!

Good luck!
