HOW CAN I TAKE MY GOODMANS 289NS 28'' OFF STANDBY?

I BOUGHT THIS TV SECOND HAND AND WAS NOT GIVEN THE ORGINAL REMOTE SO MY AFTERMARKET REMOTE CONTROL IS BROKEN, AND THE TV IS ON STANDBY I CANNOT GET THE SCREEN UP.I HAVE TRIED SELECTING THE PROGRAM UP AND DOWN BUT STILL NOT POWERING UP FOR THE SCREEN TO COME ON
