Would router interfere with wireless room thermostat?

Our room thermostat ( Honeywell) has ceased to communicate with our boiler. This coincides with having a router installed in the same room as the boiler.

The boiler is giving us hot water, but there is no heat from the radiators. The thermostat is indicating that the heating is working with the flame symbol. The staus of the boiler is ' No heat demand'

Have contacted boiler manufacturer ( Vaillant) and they think the thermostat is at fault.

Has anyone heard of this and if we had a wired thermostat, would this solve the problem?

I recently discovered my wireless thermostat was fouling my home wifi & the answer was fishing wires for a new hard wired thermostat:(

Change the channel on your mobile thermostat. That is what our heating engineer did.

This is indeed a well-known problem! The British Gas person who recently serviced our boiler was very well aware but didn't know any tips to alleviate. There are some things that you can do - open the web interface on the home hub and see which WiFi channel number it's using. It's normally set to 'automatic' where it tries to optimise wireless speed for the local conditions. If it's using eg channel 1, try re-setting to channel 11.

We had the same problem after moving the fridge near the wireless thermostat. It is not the boiler, it is communication between the thermostat and the boiler control (which will be wired in somewhere near the boiler. I typed in the name of my Drayton Digistat RF2 and "fault" into google and some lovely person had posted the link to the Drayton recalibration page.
I followed the instructions of pushing various buttons in sequence it it worked!

Yes most things can affect a wireless thermostat they are very temperamental.

i have one of these boiler and wireless thermostats if the receiver mounted closed to the side of the boiler supply spur looses communication with the transmitter the RED led on the box will CONTINUOUSLY FLASH indicating no signal has been received during the previous hr. The 2 parts will need (binding)again so that they communicate with one another this event can also occur if the BATTERIES FAIL
or if you apparently install a wireless router (funny thing radio waves) hope you have the thermostat literature safe as its a bit hard to explain how to rebind but to get heat temporary, press the button on receiver box close to the red led this will give heat but will be 20% on 80% off until binding has occurred.
my thermostat is the Honeywell CM 61NG Version if this is any help other version covered is the CM 67NG type

Thank you for your answer.

The boiler is not giving us heating at all at any time. Although I will try out what you suggest.

Boiler was due to come on now; it ignited , then went out after 5 seconds. It sounds like it is is firing up at present. What is happening to the heat it is producing? ( There is no hot water on)?

The signals from the Router may be swamping the wireless thermostat receiver but I doubt it - you can easily check by turning off all computers and pulling the power connection to the router - it the wireless thermostat then works switch the router back on and see if the wireless thermostat starts to play up again - a diagnosis.

I had never herard of wireless thermostats until recently and can't understand why anybody should want one - our room stat is hard-wired in the hall - we keep it set to 16 or 10 depending on if we want the boiler to run or not - TRVs keep the other rooms at the temerature we want. There are no communication issues with the boiler - not with a permanently wired thermostat.

I just can't imagine anybody needing to move the thermostat from one place to another - but I am an old fuddy duddy.

Having said all this my room stat did fail recently when we pulled down the hall ceiling - grit and dust got into it and the CH failed accordingly - I had to remove it from the wall and clean up the contacts - 10 mins work...

Good luck...
