Mend Delonghi Heating Fan Working

Delonghi dfs903 bottom element?

Bottom element not heating up. Changed Element for new one. Still not heating up. Top Element, Fan, Light etc all working fine.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.

Had bottom and top element go at different times,, thought the bottom element had gone this time but replaced it and its fine, so now got a spare, turns out after further investigation its the selector switch, as someone else has said, back two sets of electrodes in the switch burned out, and it shows when you look at the switch. The casing around the terminals has melted. Selector ordered, just got to wait for that to arrive hopefully tomorrow.

Information from Delonghi Customer Service is that the DFS903 was manufactured solely for Comet and only Comet engineers have the repairs manual.

Delonghi customer services will supply the user manual but not the repair manual -contact Customer dot Experience at delonghi.co.uk

To change the selector switch or thermostat - I found this information from from Steve D elsewhere on this site which was very useful.

... This advice assumes you have electrical knowledge & qualifications, if not consult an electrician ... you need to remove back panel then remove 4 screws from the upper part of end brackets (2 each side). then after you have removed all hob parts you must take out all small cross head screws from around each gas burner, then the top can be removed. Now you will see the selector switch that when operated from front knob should energise the various elements in different combinations
with multimeter check outputs, you may find that the contacts inside selector switch are burnt out in certain combinations with loss of supply to certain elements. If so replace this switch. On my oven the circular fan element will not work on full oven setting but will work on fan assisted grill. have not found who supplies parts yet but this is where I have found fault.
Hope this is of help.

Delonghi is italian for "it will break" I have had nothing but problems with, the stove top, Range hood and wall mounted oven. Will never purchase this brand ever. Stove top slector switch shorted out due to water passing the rubber seal(had to replace that and wasnt easy to do) Range hood, slide broke, light broke, selector switch snapped off (had to replace all) and the last one is the Wall mounted Oven, bottom element not been working for some time now as it seem to take ages to heat up and many a meal has been ruined by the darn thing, (needs a new selector switch) will have to replace it.
To all of you that have the same problem start with the selector switch first (its the easy one out of the two options but not that easy). If that dont work its your element but they are not know to break down. Good luck.

It's the selector switch, they short out and wear, we've had ours replaced once, I'm going to do it myself this time as it looked simple enough. getting one is another matter apparently.

it might be the connections at the selector switch

Think you may find it is the oven selector switch, it is a set of plastic cams that moves contacts, to select which element to use. Thats what ours was after I had changed bottom element and still did not work.

Same problem, either the grill won't heat up or the fan assisted one doesn't or the bottom element doesn't heat up but the top one does. It's also an intermittent fault that tends to happen when I'm in a hurry, Suspect it's the thermostat, anybody know where to get the part?

I have this cooker and thankfully took out extra care - the fan oven has refused to work on 2 occassions now and the engineer has changed something ???? He has to take the top off the hob section and it (the part) fits in there - just plugs in I think.
This must be a fault with this cooker as everyone seems to be having the same problem.
Maybe this is how you change the part you are refering too?????

I have the same problem. I have measured the resistance of the heating element and the voltage across the element. These are ok. It appears that the thermostat is shutting this element off prematurely. Also judging by the spare parts available it has to be the oven thermostat. But I don't know how to change this yet.

Did you ever get this fixed? Our bottom element has stopped working too, and I need to get a replacement. How did you remove the old element?
Cheers.
