Mend 25 Told Head Gasket

Whats wrong with the heater?

The heater on my 25 only blows cold someone told me that the head gasket could be about to go, is there any truth in this?

Is the coolant level OK, not dropping?
Is the engine reaching normal operating temperature on the dash gauge?
More likely to be a choked heater matrix or faulty heater controls.
I assume it is a Rover 25, what year?

I know precious little about cars but I'm pretty sure that a car heater does not have the gift of premonition.
