how to fix a bathroom telephone style tap?

i have a telephone shaped tap on my bath. there's no hot water comming out of the tap or the shower tap connected to it. the cold water is ok. can you suggest the problem please and wether i can fix it myself or call in a plumber. thanks in advance

it may be silly, but is the hot water turned on? look under your bath at the pipe. on it you should see a silver connector called an isolation valve(go online to any plumbing store to see what it looks like) if the screw on it is not in line with the pipework turn it till it is. open the tap slowly to release the pressure and it should be just fine.
