When I worked for a major 'phone manufacturer they made a phone every 10 seconds and 10% were subject to a warranty claim - they are very delicate and many users misuse them - they are not intended to be repeatedly dropped onto the floor and into the kitchen sink or run over by the car.
The more gadgets and gizmos and moving parts a phone has the greater the chances of premature failure - simplicity is the key to reliability.
They gave me a free phone when I joined the company - no gadgets on it - trouble free since 2001.
