I do not know the age of my Potterton boiler so I need to know when the Potterton Profile 80e ceased being manufactured to give me some idea of when it may have been installed by the last house holder. I moved in some 9 years ago. This would give me some idea if it is wise to replace it altogether with a new one, newer boilers being more efficient I am told
If the boiler has a bar code it has 4letters,3 numbers then 4 numbers. The first letter is the modification ieA,B,C. The first number denotes a year 7 would be 1997. Next 2 the week the last 4 how many that week.

Anything over 10 years old is probably D rated
I would wait for a problem to occur then change it
unless you can get a grant to ££ help ?

My profile 80e has a 15mm Gas Supply pipe - I'm not absolutely certain but I believe the current regulations now require a 22mm supply pipe on any new boiler - this can have expensive digging up the floor consequences.
