Mend Hotpoint TL22 Model Turning Turned

How can I fix my Hotpoint Reversomatic Dryer model TL22?

The drum has suddenly stopped turning although it can be turned by hand. The filter and vent hose have been cleaned and there is no obstruction to the air intake. When attempting to use it now there is a hot/burning smell. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
