How do I take out the capacitor from my Singer Starlet sewing machine foot pedal. It makes my machine run on it's own and smokes and smells terrible. It must be dangerous!

Hello Jose,
Peel off the rubber on the bottom of the foot control and you will find a screw in the centre, undo the screw all the way to open the control and take out the capacitor, when you undo the screw it may well be stuck so expect the whole piece to break away, don't worry , it can very easily be glued back.
