Not really practical to rebuild the pump yourself, best send it to someone like this

to find out if it is repairable or fit for service exchange. As you have probably found out, a new pump will cost more than the car is worth, and secondhand ones off scrap cars/ebay are hard to come by and may be on their last legs.
Are you sure the pump has failed? These can suffer from faulty crank sensors which, for some strange reason, show on diagnostics as a diesel pump fault (no engine speed signal).
Might be worth sticking a new, or known good, CK sensor on to try.
