turning off built in keyboards?

i have a dell latitude d520 with windows vista the built in key board is shoot i dont no how exactly but it keeps pressin buttons on its own and its drivin me mad i would like to know if there is a way i can turn this off as an input device so i can use just an external keyboard and not have to worry im gona type a load of rubbish as well if there is a way can u tell me how to do it please
