Hotpoint aqualtis aqxxf149pm very noisy on spin?

Have a hotpoint aqualtis aqxxf149pm which has become very noisy on the spin cycle, thinking it might be drum bearing can this be replaced? have read these have a sealed drum, can you change just the bearing ?

I have a similar model aqualtis aqxxf149PI (paid €540)and the bearing are also gone on it (just after 5 yrs). Apparently, you cannot replace the bearings on it , you have to buy the sealed drum which contain the bearings. A new sealed drum costs €220. Has anybody tried to split a sealed drum and change the bearings. I believe these drums are welded together! I know that a new washing machine is approx €375-€400.

2 year old machine. Increasingly deafening noise on spin cycle over last few months. Took the top off the machine and found that the 3 nuts/bolts securing the concrete weight onto the top of the drum were slightly loose. Tightened them up with a spanner. Noise gone.

Hi there, be sure to check the front counter weight, it only needs to be the slightest bit lose and the noise is terrible. I had this problme and it only took quarter of a turn on two of the three "Torx" screws to fix it. The screws are 40 torx or star screws and can be blind tightened from under the front of the machine.

We have a Hotpoint Aqualtis 9D which became very noisy after only 12 months. It turned out to be a problem with the front counterweight.

I have the same thing - failed after two years

I've got the same problem with the same machine.
Bearing have failed after only 2 years.
5 year parts guarantee means you can get a repair from Hotpoint with 'free' parts, but that costs ÂŁ105 (I rang them this morning) and they only Guarantee the repair for 3 months - not much faith in their workmanship.
I've been buying Hotpoint's for 30 years, but this one may be my last.
BTW - I have changed the bearings myself on machines in the past with some success, but if the bearings have really given up they take the housing they sit in too, which is part of the drum - so if you machine is less than 5 years old and VERY noisy I wouldn't bother trying to fix it yourself. The bearings cost between ÂŁ20-ÂŁ30, and it's not an easy job. Up to you.

Everything that's screwed together can usually be screwed apart...but this is not really a DIY friendly (or economical) repair.
