Both causes will require the tub to be dismantled. If the pulley outside the tub with the belt drive from the motor moves with the drum then the bearings are broken/worn (there are two bearings usually supplied as a set with a water seal). If the pulley doesn't move with the drum then the spider holding the tub to the drive shaft is broken.
