Zanussi TC 7114 W Tumble Dryer wont start?

Timer dial loose when turning.
When I turn drier on it cuts out after about 10 seconds.
If I open and close the bottom door (where the water container is) it will start then cut out again. This method used to make the drier work, but now it cuts out. Ive checked that the water container is empty and find that it is so this has nothing to do with it cutting out. Any suggestions.
