Mend Nokia 7610 Supernova Screen Gone Off

My Nokia 7610 Supernova screen has gone off!?

I charged my phone the other day and after the screen had just gone off, no colour or lights just blank like the phone was switched off. The lights on the keypad still light up when you slide the screen up but nothing appears on the screen. Is there anyway I can repair this myself? What is the possible causes?
