Hey elaine didn't quite explain that to the full. If you turn your T9 on and begin to write the word you want to add, once the suggestions of words start to appear (just above where it says keypad in the box and the delete key) tap the 'up' arrow next to the top suggested word and 'add word' will then appear! Took a sec for me to make that work but that was just due to being new at the whole touch phone accuracy and all! Hope this helps you

This was driving me mad too! To add words to T9 dictionary, scroll through all the options given for your word first, and then you get an option to "add word" type in your word, select done and you're good to go.
