On inspection the brushes were very worn. On replacing, this has fixed the problem, which surprised me as only the spin cycle was affected (brief spins on other cycles was working fine and had not been a problem).
So .. thank you for your reply and advice. Problem solved and expensive call out avoided. Thank you!
