this is very comen it happened to me i didn't charge it for a week so i got a new battery

The archos 5 is very susceptible to battery issues. What you are describing is a pretty often caased by a faulty battery. Archos themselves are notoriously unhelpful and unlikely to replace the battey but replacements are readily available on ebay, try and get a genuine one if you can.
