can a royal alpha 587 cash register be open by switch underneath or do i always need a key? we got this at a rummage sale and a volunteer locked the keys inside. a repairman charged our church 42 dollars to open it.
But to answer your question... (because I read it wrong the first time) Yes... you can open your register by using the switch underneath the register and no you do not need a key to do this.

To open your register you would need a 4 digit clerk number followed by hitting the clerk button.
