Mend Singer 185K Control Day Heat

Singer 185K foot control set up?

My singer 185K was heard buzzing one day, the heat from the foot control had burnt the carpet. I have taken the control in bits and found a loose nut on the operating arm. Are there any clearances or settings I need to observe when rebuilding?

when you plug the 185k into socket it starts up immenitley is there something wrong with the foot controller and where would you get a foot controller

Hello Danny,
I take it you have the original button type foot control, take the suppressor out whilst you are about it that is the small thing connected to the two terminals, you don't need it, adjust the screw on the contacts slightly if you need to, if it is buzzing just loosen it off slightly.
