Mend Works Work Fully

The movement works without the pendulum ?

How can I get my clock to work? It is fully wound but on setting up the pendulum is will tick-tock for a few seconds but then stops. If I take the pendulum off the movement races - It is likely I have the wrong type of pendulum?
